                                                                 What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness, achieved by experiencing a deep sense of relaxation. Hypnosis has existed since pre-record by man. The earliest written records on hypnosis can be found in texts such as the Ebers Papyrus; an Egyptian medical text dating around 1550BC.

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic context.  In today's society hypnotherapy is becoming more and more recognised as one of the most powerful and successful approaches to achieving positive and healthy changes.

The hypnotic state is a completely natural state and can be achieved by anyone.

 

Everything we have ever seen, thought, heard, touched, felt, smelled and experienced is stored in our subconscious.  It's our hard-drive.  It knows and runs all our programmes. Those that are running in the background that we are not consciously aware of, that are having a profound effect on who we are. 

 

Hypnotherapy simply takes you on your own personal journey into a profound state of relaxation to access and work with your subconscious - the background programmes - and create a space for transformation. Through positive suggestion and positive affirmation hypnotherapy accentuates the positive - all that you deserve to be and can achieve by eliminating the negative; in order for you to make those positive changes you are now ready to make, so that you can obtain that happier, easier, more successful and fulfilled life and future.     



 

BRAINWAVE FREQUENCIES


Beta - Normal awake state
Alpha - Relaxed but awake
Theta - Daydreaming / Awake, in an altered state
Delta - Sleep


When you start your hypnotherapy session your brainwave frequency is at Beta, the relaxing induction slowly brings you into a state between Beta and Alpha, then brings you into the pleasant hypnotic state of Alpha / Theta brainwave frequency. 

 

 

The hypnotic state is simply the Theta state!


SO…. 

 ….whilst in a state of hypnosis you do not relinquish control.

 

You do not go 'unconscious' or into an oblivious state where anything could be said or done unbeknown to you.  The subconscious mind is very protective and cannot be programmed with anything that would intrude upon or interfere your values or your moral code.  You remain completely in control and aware of what is happening at all times. You are simply in an 'altered' state of consciousness ie: so very deeply and profoundly relaxed.  And in that relaxed state the subconscious mind unfurls, and that is where you get to acknowledge and deal with that which has been holding you back and make those positive transformations.  The only changes that will happen are changes that you want to happen and changes that you are ready to make. 


As a hypnotherapist I am simply a guide who facilitates the journey, or process.  You are the one taking the journey and making the changes!

 


 

Your session/s will be recorded onto CD or MP3 for you to take with you and replay in your own time, in order for you to reinforce and fully achieve the objective of the therapy.

 

Some people whom I have assisted through hypnotherapy have told me during feedback after the first session that they have never felt so relaxed before.  That's a bonus in itself!
